Except for the 20 or so mails that bounced back, the second mailing that went out to the Jescom list has already generated a good response. One man fired off a strongly-felt response to my report for the Congregation of Procurators (available through the link to the right); I hope I get some more reflections and can put them up and even spark a dialogue. I have been doing the job of secretary of communications for the Society for almost three years. During that time I have seen a lot and been mulling the future over in my head. This report is the first time I have stated my conclusions publicly. Will people salute the paper now that I have run it up the flagpole, or shoot at it?
Rik de Gendt, the sharp-eyed Belgian reporter and web-master for Jesuits in Europe spotted some programming glitches that had escaped me, and which I quickly fixed once I was aware of them. It doesn't bother me to learn about things that don't work. I also have heard from many people who are doing interesting things. One Jesuit is developing a very interesting interactive web site for art and prayer; he asked me not to publicize it until he is ready to unveil it. How many other creative ventures are going on or are in development?
