Press Release n. 09
The conclusive day of the Procurators' Congregation began with the fulfilment of the norms laid down by the Formula of the Congregation. These included the vote to approve the minutes of the past days, which as per the decision of the Procurators, were examined regularly by three persons appointed by the Congregation itself. It was also a moment to express our gratitude to all those who contributed in various ways to enable us to celebrate the Congregation in the best possible manner.
The climax of this morning was however the final allocution of Father General. In the light of what was deliberated during the past few days, he offered with brevity and efficacy "simple reflections" regarding the future and the challenges that await the Society. He stressed the importance of creativity to respond to these challenges. This creativity has its foundation in Ignatian Spirituality, especially in the spirit of Magis, and in the other key meditations of the Spiritual Exercises like the meditation of the Kingdom. He alluded to the assurance that God, like a font of inspiration, is with us to help us fulfil all that we desire to accomplish.
At the end session Father General declared the Procurators' Congregation closed after which we sang the Te Deum to express our gratitude to God for the work accomplished during these days in an atmosphere that was fraternal, joyful and productive.
At 11 in the morning the Congregation moved to the Chapel of Pedro Arrupe at the Spirituality Centre of Mwangaza for the celebration of the concluding Eucharist. During this celebration Father General, once again, offered some more points for reflections based on the readings of the liturgy of the day.
We end our special coverage of the CP70 with this press release.
