    Vol. XVIII, No. 17 01 August 2014

On Saint Ignatius' feastday, the community at the General Curia had the pleasure of having Pope Francis join them for dinner.  It was only at the last moment that he told Father General that this was his wish.  The visit was wholly private, and quite simple.  The Pope joined the community for the meal in the refectory, then in the recreation room for coffee, for friendly conversation, and to greet each one personally.

The seven siblings - the brothers and sisters - of Fr. Paolo Dall'Oglio, were also guests at the meal.  Fr. Dall'Oglio was abducted in Syria one year ago.  The Pope consoled them with words of comfort.  Present, too, was a group of EJIF (European Jesuits in Formation) scholastics.  They are holding their annual gathering at the General Curia these weeks.
